Buccaneer and a MAC

We all love apple, especially the mac, but its not the biggest product on the apple’s shelf. There is the ipod, and also the much hyped iphone.

After a huge media spot light, the iphone was released in a grand show, and is still to hit most parts of the world. Its not scheduled to be released in canada for another couple of months, at the minimal. iphone canada just has yielded a speculated talk with rogers wireless.

While it has safari, one of the best browsers the internet has seen, seeing youtube videos can be slow and also costly. While there are a lot of features like the touch screen, email and the smart touch, there are also apps that you can download and simply be amazed by the innovation apple brings to you. download webapps for iphone from apple.

I also found a few websites that are selling games for iphone.  All games look pretty simple, but i did find sudoku there. There are another set of games for iphone here.

I have always been fascinated by pirates early from childhood and Pirates have their own unique way of talking and living styles. I wanted to get some pirate gear, no not the one eyed cloth, but a nice looking t shirt. I am also interested in getting some real pirate stuff like pirate maps and also pirate books, telling stories of pirates and bloodhood!!

Here is a small note on what i know about a pirate, courtesy movies and books, remember “treasure Island” by R.L. Stevenson?

1. Every pirate likes the sea and respects the sea. He has travelled so many places, and none of them are peninsulas or ports, all of them are islands.

2. A pirate dresses like a seaman, which is always bright and smells salty. Pirates wore hats. Most of the items he carried were present in a chest and he always carried the key in his neck.

3. Every pirate carries a sword or a knife and has killed so many people. He is brave and at the same time, a silent dog under his captain.

4. Behind every pirate, there was a captain, who buried some box of gold, somewhere, but that will never be found.

5. There was never any body who cared for the pirate, like a mother, brother or a wife, He was always single.

6. His English is unique and more characteristic is his accent. “ahoy“, “seaward ho” are two most common phrases used. I have a big list, ll populate them later!

7. A pirate drinks RUM! And he often gets high on it! Remember this - Fifteen men on a dead man’s chest Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Until last week, the pirate blog had just the default wordpress theme, the good old blue one. I did not change it, not due to lack of time or laziness, but that i felt the template was good. It was simple, and navigation was also easy. But pirates are not simple, and i decided to go for a template.I wanted the blog to have a theme, which will be based on a mac, more than a pirate. Of course, this is our first shipment of theme and i am delighted. I was OK with this itheme, which is based on a mac, but then, i needed a little tinkering.I found a wordpress coder,  to get the job done. We are just starting and we did not pay much and we had to agree to get an existing theme tinkered rather than go for a new template, basically all that matters is the end product.Critics welcome, any opinions on the theme or layout or something else, mail me at pirate@gfyvictoria.com

The name google stands for itself and promises a lot of innovation. That’s the thumb which separates google products from others.

I was using bloglines an year ago, i did not complain, it was good, and did its work well. But when i switched to google reader, it was altogether a new story. The advantages are listed here

1. A neat ajaxified approach and interface - web2.0

2. Tagging by labels. I guess this is present every where now

3. A google powered search in your feeds

4. Star posts - to get to your favourites posts soon, just like gmail.

5. Share posts - a one click share to notify your friends about a post mutually enjoyed.

6. While sharing to a group was difficult, google reader now offers a friend’s shared items, letting you know when your friends are online in gtalk, and share them the feeds. Too good!!

7.  No download or updates required.

8. A universal google login for Gmail, blogger, orkut and more…

9. Discover the posts, get posts by key words. Remember google search results are better than any thing else.

10. This was one of the primary reasons i switched, the FireFox add-on, which shows and checks for feeds as and when i browse the web. There are two addons.

• google reader watcher
• google reader notifier

I have tried both and i prefer the first one. Its handy, cool and customizable.

I did hear and tried some desktop feed readers, but it looks like i need a download, and update and offers no portability.

After the ALCS, big poppy did deserve some rest. Nicked the big poppy, david ortiz has been instrumental in getting the red sox with a win time and again. I was surpised when i did a google search on big poppy and soon the wikipedia page showing david ortiz came up. I heard that over and again during the commentry, but i was surprised to see this one pop up right on top.

David ortiz has done the job of a designated hitter more than well. He along with manny form a deadly pair, and the bait is that they manny follows him in the batting order. What a tight moment the pitcher is going to have. I remember in one of the games, manny and big poppy never got out and scored ten runs in between them.

More of the excitement piles when the season gets underway and reaches its climax. i am waiting for the second half of the season to just get more excited.

Update : yahoo search also brings up the first result correct. Is yahoo also a good search engine? Oh it must be big poppy is too famous!!!

Everybody takes exams. While there are people, who know answers to all the questions, there are a plethora of others who do not understand a question properly.

I was taking a exam in a big hall, where a battery of students were assembled. It was a common practice to make people of different grades to sit beside each other. I took it a great opportunity to sit beside a hot chick in the high school. When i went to high school, i always sat beside a junior girl. thats a different story.

One such incident left a long lasting memory. A junior boy was seated next to me, he came in late and he was dressed shabbily. He was like more a don’t care guy. His hair was flying and he did not even care to set it right.

He got the question paper, and so did I. I was not well prepared that day, so i simply took a long time reading all the questions. I wasted more than ten minutes, but it worth the time, since i learned that i had not much content to write for, more than ten minutes.

He simply put the question paper, behind the answer book, and started writing a answer. After an hour passed, he was still on the first page. he took a pencil and drew a big frog. I was surprised to see him dip his hands in to the pocket and draw out a crayon. He started to color the frog.

He was almost done finishing the diagram and for the fisrt time, he took a look at the question paper. He simply copied the first page of the question paper in to the answer book. I knew this, because i did not have much to write, and i had finished writing all i knew. It was one and half hours since we were given the question paper.

Then something interesting happened. He stood, called the in invigilator and told him straight. “Sir, i thought, you made a mistake.” When the professor asked him what - he said - “This question paper is for a different grade, but i am actually not sure.. “

Of any man who could bowl a yorker at a furious pace, dale steyn is one. His form of late has been extra ordinary and he showed his real class, when he bowled a tremendous spell in the twenty twenty international against the west indies. Three of them ripped of two of the wickets and sent them cart wheeling. His form in the recent tours of pakistan and new zealand have been amazing. he will show his real class in years to come.

He is just 24 years of age and like most south african cricketers, he has shown the spirit of the team and the game, rather than focusing on personal records. Along with pollock and nitni, he is a perfect guy to take up the pace attack for the proteas. He has got tremendous pace, and his yorker length deliveries are really hard to play.

In only 15 test matches, he already has 76 wickets and 6 five wicket hauls. he is going to be a genius of a bowler and will soon take south african cricket to new heights.

Everybody loves wordpress. One of the main reasons is that the websites running on wordpress are easy to customize, with the help of themes.Here is a small list of wordpress themes, primarily based on sports.

1. Baseball - This one is not listed on the first page of google, but has some of the best themes, i have ever seen. You deserve to be listed up on the front. Oops, i forgot something - these themes are too good to be free.

2. Basketball wordpress themes - I found one theme here, which is good, but might need more tinkering. It is a simple two column template.

3. hockey themes - Not really funky, but more than decent. may be it need a little more tinkering. Probably, i would change the header image.

4. Soccer themes - I found a couple of them, and that at the same website, and i am extremely delighted with both of them. Cool soccer themes. This soccer theme really has a wonderful header image, that belnds in to the page.

5. golf themes - I found few golf impressive themes and this golf theme looks more than ok. Continue reading »

World has existed for more than a few million years and living beings have only been existent for the later part of it. Man is considered the most intelligent of all species, (or at-least he has the capability to behave so), while a lot of chimps and dolphins have shown a lot of intelligence.

Right from my childhood, i have always been amazed by the discovery channel and other such programs i used to watch. Of all these, the most interesting session was that of a dinosaur. I have been amazed by fossils, dino eggs, the Jurassic park and the t-rex. In fact i was more than happy when i saw a link to Dino’s right on the home page. Explore dinosaurs on discovery channel. Sometimes i do see some news stating that a fossil has been dug out, or some egg has been found. DO you really think dinos could have survived? Or can man survive in this world, when dinos make a surprise comeback.

Another subject that has been a thing to write, read and visit is the pyramids. In fact, i am amazed by the egyptian culture as such. I should soon go and visit the pyramids and the sphinx too. Those are too great constructions in this world.

What are other things that fascinate you a lot? find it at discovery channel. I have been fascinated about sharks and whales a lot more than any other creatures. I know i could have a pet dog easily, but to study a dolphin, its simply amazing. Oh i also missed the anaconda!
